anointed

1 Joshua... Last night on David the great warrior, his position in Christ and what he did about it, and tonight, Joshua... And tomorrow night, the Lord willing, we'll get another great hero, or someone to speak on their life.   I give a lot of the time to bringing forth the Word to encourage and to positionally place the people. I feel led of the Holy Spirit to do that (See?), to let the people, these who are here... I--I'd say like this: How many Christians are here tonight raise up your hands? Let... Christians, no matter what church you belong to... About ninety-nine percent, maybe ninety-nine and nine-tenths percent (See?), is Christians. Maybe there'd be eight or ten people in here, maybe tonight, that's not Christians. See? Well now, and that... What must you do to that people?
7 Such a beautiful type of the Church today, that how that the same procedure, God just repeating history in another way. How the Church was called out, now in their journey, and could've went on over into the promise, but has refused. Now, a beautiful picture is before us. Now, as Joshua, the leader first, in the wilderness where there was thousands times thousands of noblemen, yet Joshua seemed to realize that he was, positionally he was elected of God. And when he crossed and Moses died, then he was called of God. God called him out and give him a vision, and said, "Now, as I was with Moses, so will I be with you. And no man shall stand before you all the days of your life. Be not dismayed; neither be discouraged, for the Lord thy God is with thee wheresoever thou goest. And after the vision was over, then Joshua, being the warrior, elected of God, chosen of God... Now, when he meets this king, or this great Man standing at the wall near Jericho, he was positionally placed then; he was a warrior. And then he seen what the real visible thing was. Who do you think this Man was that was standing over against the wall? Now, Joshua knowing he'd had visions, how the Lord had spoke to him, and he knowed that he was God's servant, and he wasn't afraid. But when he went into the land, he crossed over, the manna ceased, and then the old corn, they begin to eat it.
8 And one day while strolling along in the wilderness, coming from Jer--from Jordan up to Jericho, rocky, hilly, desert, wilderness like place, walking along there he seen a Man. And the Man stood and drew His sword, just a Man, looked like a man. And Joshua, perhaps being a chief warrior, drew his sword too, walked to meet Him, said, "Who are You? Are You for us, or are You our adversary?" The man I could see lift his sword high, say, "No, I'm the Captain of the host of the Lord--of the God of Israel." The Captain of the host, Who was this Captain of the host? Joshua reached down and unloosened his shoes, fell on his face before Him, and said, "What would the Lord have me do?" You see, after he had been--he was getting his position then. He was to be the greatest military man that's ever been on the face of the earth. There's never been a general like Joshua, no time, no age, nowhere has ever been compared with Joshua. The word "Joshua" comes from the word of "Jesus," means "Jesus" or "Saviour, deliverer." And so when he seen this Man, what was it? It was the Captain, in other words, the Leader of the host of Israel. And that leader was none other than Christ Himself.
9 And what was He first seen in? A Pillar of Fire. And now the Pillar of Fire had become a man. I hope you know what I'm talking about. He had become a man. Joshua, alone by himself, seen just what it was: that that Pillar of Fire that had led them as an Angel, here He stood and called Himself the Captain of the host. He was the Unseen One. And He is still the Captain of the host of the Lord, the unseen One, the invisible One, the omnipotent One, here tonight just as real as He was standing there against the walls of Jericho, the same Lord Jesus: a figurative type of course. He was Melchisedec that met Abraham, many, many, hundred years before there: had no father, no mother, no beginning of days or ending of years: Melchisedec. Who was this great King, had no beginning of days, no ending of years, without descent, without father, without mother? There you are. Here He is. He met Abraham out there under the oak one day. And He had dust all over His clothes, and said He was from a strange--a foreign country, and was on His road down to Sodom and Gomorrah.

21 Because one man stole a garment and done something that he should not done, took the life of sixteen men. I think it was sixteen, maybe more. I believe it was sixteen men that was dead. Joshua called, said, "There's something wrong. God made the promise, and something's wrong." When we bring the sick up before us and they fail to be healed, we need to call a solemn fast, call an assembly. Something's wrong somewhere. God made the promise. God's got to stick to that promise, and He will do it. And he called a fast. And they found out, they cast the lots. And Achan confessed it. And they killed Achan's family and all, and burnt their ashes, and left it there for a memorial. And Joshua went right on through the battles, taking everything without a scratch or a wound. There you are. One day he had--needed a little time, extra time. The sun was going down; the men couldn't fight very good at nighttime. Joshua, that great warrior, anointed of God, positionally placed into the land, like Ephesians to the new church, possess--possessed in the--possessing the land, taking it over. He needed some time, so he said, "Sun, stand still." And she stood still for about twelve hours until he took the land. See? Now, the Book of Ephesians placed us positionally in Christ, what they was in the holy land. We are placed not in the holy land, but in the Holy Ghost.
EPHESIANS_PARALLELS_JOSHUA  JEFF_IN 05-15-60 Evening

71 Didn't Nathan tell David... Nathan, the prophet, one time setting seeing David the anointed king, he said, "Do all that's in your heart, for God is with you." Told David, "Do all that's in your heart; God's with you." Joshua was anointed to take the land for God and for his people. The day was short; he needed more time for the job that he was anointed and commissioned to do. Joshua, a man, he was anointed. God told him, "As I was with Moses, I'll be with you." Amen. "That land, I'm going to give it to them. I want you to go over there and clean out the Amalekites and--and the Hitt--all--all the others, the Philistines, and--and Perizzites, and all the different ones; clean them out. I'm with you. I'll... No man will stand before you all the days of your life. No man can bother you. Go on in there." And Joshua drawed that sword and said, "Follow me." And he got over there, and here he was fighting. And what was it? He routed the enemy. They were little bunches here and little bunches there. When nighttime come they'd all get together and garrison together and come with a big force against him. And the sun was going down; he needed more light.
72 The sun was going down; he didn't fall on his knees and say, "Lord God, what shall I do? What shall I do?" He spoke. He had a need. He said, "Sun, stand still." And he cried at nothing; he commanded: "Sun, stand still; I've got a need of this. I'm the servant of the Lord, anointed for this job, and I got a need. Stand still and don't you shine, and moon, you hang where you're at," till he fought the battle through and whipped the whole thing out. And the sun obeyed him. No crying out, he spoke to the sun; said, "You stand still. Sun, hang there, and moon, you stay where you're at." He didn't cry out, "Lord, now what can I do? Give me some more sunlight." He had need of sunlight, so he commanded it, and the sun obeyed him. Oh, my. He commanded the sun to stand still. Samson, anointed, raised up, ordained of God, given a gift of power, was ordained to destroy the nation of the Philistines: ordained, born on the earth, anointed of God to destroy the Philistines. One day they caught him out in the field without his sword, without a spear, and a thousand of those armored Philistines run upon him at one time. Did he get down and say, "Oh, Lord, I'm waiting for a vision? Oh, Lord, what must I do? Direct me now what to do." He knowed he had a need. He found nothing but an old jawbone of a mule, and he beat down a thousand Philistines. Amen. He never cried to God. He used his anointed gift. He knowed that he was sent for the job. He knowed he was born for that.
73 He knowed he was anointed with a gift, and he beat down a thousand Philistines. He didn't cry to God. God ordained him and vindicated that he was by other things that he had done, and he was a vindicated, anointed servant of God to destroy the Philistines, and he did it. No matter what the circumstances was, he did it. He never asked nothing. That was his job. That... God was dealing through... He picked up that mule bone and go to beating Philistines. How the... Why, one lick with that thing across one of them inch and a half brass skulls like that would've shattered that bone into a million pieces, and he beat a thousand of them down and killed them, and still stood with it in his hand. Didn't ask no questions. He didn't cry out; he spoke. He routed them. Oh, my. Take the Philistines. "Can I take the Philistines, Lord? I--I know You sent me to do it, Lord. Yes, Lord, I know You sent me to destroy this nation of the Philistines. Now, here a thousand of them around me. I ain't got nothing. What--what am I going to do now, Lord." Oh, my.
74 Nothing going to bother him. He's anointed for the work. There's nothing can harm you. No, not one thing. Hallelujah. He just took what he had and beat into them. That's right. When the enemy fenced him in and said, "Now, we got him in the walls; we got him now. We got him on the inside here with this woman. Now, we got this good door shut all around everywhere, and he can't get out. We got him." Samson didn't cry, "Oh, Lord, they got me all fenced in with this denomination. What am I going to do? I've joined up with them. What am I going to do?" He never did that. He just walked out, and pulled down the gates, put it on his shoulder, and walked away with it. Amen. He was anointed for the job. He was called of God: didn't fence him in. No, indeedy. He took the gates with him. He didn't pray about it. He didn't ask God whether to do it or not. It's right in the line of duty. Amen and amen, amen. Right in the line of duty... "Why cry to Me? Speak, and go on." Amen. "Don't cry, speak." He done quit whining and whimpering now: ought to be old enough to speak. That's right.
75 He knew his anointed gift of power could destroy any Philistine that stood before him. Amen. But we don't know that. You see? We're still little babies with the bottle in our mouth  and... He know it. He knowed that God raised him up for that purpose, and there was nothing going to stand before him all the days of his life. Nothing could destroy him. He was raised for that purpose like Moses was: nothing going to stop him. No Amalekites or nothing else can stop him. He's on the road to the promised land. Samson knowed he was on the road. Joshua know he was taking the land. He was a-vindicated. God's Word promised it, and the Holy Ghost was there vindicating it. He was on his road, so there's nothing going to stand in his way. No, sir. Right in the line of duty with God, there was nothing going to stand in his way, so he just picked up the gates, and put them on his shoulders (weighed about four or five tons), and walked up on top of the hill and set down on them: nothing going to stand in his way. He had an anointed gift from God. He didn't have to cry out, "Lord, what must I do now." He's already anointed to do it. That was THUS SAITH THE LORD, "Get rid of them." Hallelujah. "Get rid of them. I've raised you up for that purpose." Amen.
WHY_CRY_SPEAK  JEFF_IN 07-14-63 Morning

11 I led her out here in the Ohio River and baptized her in the Name of the Lord Jesus. Now, my own boy. O God, if possible, let Hope look down over the banister this morning, look across the veil, hangs between earth and glory. I pray, God, will make a preacher out of my boy. I pray that God will anoint him and give him a double portion of the Spirit. May God bless his life. Thank you all for your prayer. Prayer changes things. I'll pray for your children too. Billy, boy, some of these days, honey, we, if Jesus tarries, we got to go down in one of these, they'll throw dirt on us. But, sonny, God will bring us up. "I know my Redeemer liveth, the last days He'll stand on this earth." I pray that God will bless him, keep the enemy from him. Give him a free access, way down this long road, son.
12 There's many souls dying down there, but throw out the lifeline to them, bring them. I trust, Billy, that you'll stand and baptize literally thousands times thousands for a testimony for the remission of their sins. God, bless my boy, I pray...?... O Master, Oh, how I...?... My boy, Lord, that I've raised for thee. Here's my boy, Lord; he's all I got. I bring him to You this morning. I'm so thankful, Lord, that he believes this...?... So thankful that he's repented, God. O Lord Jesus, O Christ, anoint him with the Holy Ghost. Grant it, Lord, that the power of the Spirit of the resurrected Christ; hold my boy. Grant it, Lord. May he be filled with God's Spirit to preach the Word, unadulterated Gospel of Christ, to all the ends of the world. Grant it, Lord.

4 All right. Now, you come here, honey. Dear God, as this dear little, Ethiopian boy standing here, and I hug him up to my bosom. I love these little boys, Lord. And I pray that in the Name of Your Son Jesus, as this tender little boy, that'll have to go through life with that asthma, O God, a poor boy, would have to work for his living. And, oh, what a disadvantage it would be. Now, God, I pray tonight that You'll heal him of this condition. Take it away from him, and anoint him, and make him a preacher, Lord, to stand in the pulpit, to preach the Gospel. I pray this prayer of faith, through Jesus Christ's Name. Amen. God bless you, little lad. What's going to happen now? Going to get well? All right.

37 Now, Simon clearing his throat, and red in the face, and his righteous indignation rose up, and he was ready to explode. Caught the attention of all the people as he turned and straightened himself. "Hmmm!" Self-righteous Pharisee, hypocrite, church member, that's the meanest rascal I know of, is an old moss-back make-believer. He's meaner than all the prostitutes and teen-age racketeers there is in the country. He will drive people farther from God than everything else, every barroom there is on the street. There He's setting there. And then she raises up, and she taken the alabaster box, and she tries to break it. She's nervous now, because when she looks up He's looking right at her. Don't worry, He's watching you too. He's looking at you right now. We can just feel His piercing Presence. She was nervous. She tried to knock the top off. She just broke the top off, and just poured it upon His head, begin to anoint Him. Oh, all the crowd's looking. "Yes, looky there. There his is. We never noticed him before. He's setting in the corner, a prostitute around him." I can hear Simon say, "Didn't I tell you? There's your prophet. There--there's him. See? He would know what kind of a crowd he was associating with."
38 Oh, how many times I've had that throwed in my face. "Brother Branham, if that gift was of God, you wouldn't be with that bunch of Pentecostals." They're the ones that receives it. They're the ones that believe it. The other day I was talking to a man from the Methodist church. He come to write him a thesis on Divine healing. He said, "Why don't you come to the Methodist church?" I said, "Why don't you invite me?" I said... He said, "I'm a pastor." I said, "Well, you get you deacons and your board together, and your state presbyter, and all of them together, an see if they'll invite me." He said, "Oh, they wouldn't do it, Brother Branham." I said, "That's what I thought." He said, "The only thing they can hold against you is you're a Pentecostal. You left the Baptist church and become a Pentecostal." I said, "That's the one that receives it." That's right. They're the ones that's willing to wipe Jesus' dirty feet, stand the Name of Jesus, the reproach.

22 So therefore, when we receive His Word into our heart, it's already done, it's completed. And why would He then (it doesn't answer the question) be baptized? Many has said, "Why, He was baptized because He was our example." That is true to a certain state, certain place. That is true, but it isn't all the truth. The truth of it was, that He was the Antetype, He was the High Priest. And before the high priest could be anointed, he had to be washed. I want to read some Scripture for you, just a moment, over in the Book of Exodus. And I want to begin here at the 4th verse of the 29th chapter.
And Aaron and his sons thou shall bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shall wash them with water.
And thou shalt take the garments, and put upon Aaron, and the coat, and the robe...
and the ephod, and the ephod, and the breastplate, and to gird him with the curious girdle of the ephod:
And thou shall put the mitre upon his head, and upon the holy... upon the... crown upon the mitre.
And thou shall take the anointing oil, and pour it upon the head, and anoint him.
See, Aaron, the high priest, before he could ever be anointed, he had to be washed with water.
23 Therefore, when Jesus, before He could be anointed our High Priest, He was washed with water. And then not anointing oil poured upon Him to anoint Him, like Aaron was anointed with oil; He was anointed with the Holy Ghost. "For John bare record, seeing the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and going upon Him, and a Voice saying, 'This is My beloved Son in Whom I am pleased to dwell in.'" So the Bible said that, "Jesus was anointed with the Holy Ghost, went about doing good things." See, He was anointed. And before He was anointed, He had to fulfill all righteousness. See, He had to be washed with water before the Anointing come upon Him. And it's a very beautiful type of us today. As priests unto God, we must be first baptized, confess our sins and be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ, washing away our sins; and then you shall receive the Anointing, the gift of the Holy Ghost. See? Washed first and then anointed for the service... No minister should enter the pulpit without first being baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ. 'Cause there's only... Remission of sins is only in Jesus Christ's Name, not another other name under heaven given among man. "Repentance and remission of sin must be taught in His Name, beginning at Jerusalem." That's where the Holy Ghost fell and anointed first. So a minister or any believer must first be washed from His sins in the Name of Jesus Christ; and then anointed with the Holy Ghost to bring forth a testimony for God. And Christ was God's testimony, because God was in Christ, reconciling the world to Himself.
IT_BECOMETH_US_TO_FULFILL_ALL_RIGHTEOUSNESS  JEFF_IN 10-01-61 Morning

33 He was in full possession (Amen.), for he was adopted into that family. And his name on a check was just as good as his daddy's. Now, what God has done, the reason we see these things, and know that there's something wrong, friend. We see the promises of God; we see it in the Word of God. But God has just begin, to my humble opinion, to adopting His son, positionally calling him out to one side, giving him a certain ministry, anointing them for that purpose, and sending them out. Watch what happens when He does. Everything that he give him possession over will take place. God adopted His own Son like that. Jesus, walking as an ordinary man, but one day upon Mount Transfiguration, He taken three as a witness Peter, James, John: hope, faith, and charity. Called them out, and He separated Jesus from them, and He over-shadowed Him. And the Bible said, "His raiment shined like the sun in its strength." What was it? That special robe, God adopting His own Son.
34 And they seen Moses and Elijah appear and so forth. Then they show Him and they seen Jesus only. And when He looked back then, God the Father, after putting the robe on His Son, He said, "This is My beloved Son; hear ye Him." No wonder Jesus could say, "All the powers in heaven and earth is given unto My hand," for He was adopted by His Father into the glorious Kingdom of God. Now, sitting in the majesty at the right hand above every Archangel, and Angel, every star, moon, or every name that's named in heaven. It's subject to the Name of Jesus Christ. For He was adopted by God the Father. Now, into His church, you that's positionally is seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, be humble, brethren. Someday the Holy Spirit will speak to you, call you out to one side somewhere in a little cabin on a hillside, or in the washroom, somewhere, and there will anoint you for a certain service, or certain thing to do. It won't be the laying on the hand of the presbyters or elders. It'll be the laying on the hands of God Almighty, Himself, to put a new ministry in you, and a new robe on you, and to set you out as an example. And all the demons out of torment will never upset you. God, grant, my brethren, that we'll each one receive this blessing.
35 Shall we pray. O God, our Father. We are grateful to Thee this afternoon for Jesus, how that You took Him up there on Mount Transfiguration and was transfigured before them; You changed Him. And Your Voice said as the adoption, "This is My beloved Son; hear ye Him." And, God, we're trying our best to Him and follow Him in everything that we do or say. Send Him into the building just now, Lord, put a fresh anointing on every minister here and every laity here, Methodist, Baptist, Presbyterian, Catholic, whatever they are, Father. They're here because they love You. And we're groaning, waiting for that time of adoption. And we believe that one of these days the Holy Spirit will move in, not with a new birth, for we've received that through Christ, but You'll adopt Your Church then. Then She'll be clothed in the power of the resurrected Lord. And we pray, Father, that You'll do this quickly, for the days look so dark and evil ahead. We pray that You'll adopt us now, Lord, into Your family. Give us the authority that we need, Father, to make the gainsayer keep still. No wonder they prayed when they come back. "Why did the heathens rage and the people imagine the vain thing?" said. Truly, Lord, the stretching forth a hand of thy Son to heal the sick... Save the lost in here today, Father. Heal the sick. For we ask it in Jesus Name.
POSITION_IN_CHRIST  CHICAGO_IL 01-16-55 Afternoon

"My Faith Looks Up To Thee." That's where we stand; that's the only thing that'll move a mountain. That's when God has to anoint you to such faith that it cannot fail. "My Faith Looks Up To Thee,"

55 Three offices like: fatherhood, sonship, and Holy Ghost. And you are body, spirit, and soul. Now, the outside body has five inlets to it to contact your earthly home: see, taste, feel, smell, and hear. The inside, which is a spirit, it has five senses: conscience, and love, and so forth. But the inside of that, the soul, has one thing. That's where you live. The Spirit can come out here and anoint you to do certain things, and you do it, but that don't mean you're saved. But think of it. Caiaphas prophesied. Judas cast out devils. See, the Spirit anointed him. There's rain falls on the just and the unjust; the weeds can rejoice with the wheat. But it's what it is at the core. There's where you can, intellectuals can accept and say, "Oh, sure, that looks good. I believe that." That still don't do it. No, sir. And the spirit can actually make witness of it, and still it isn't so. Because if that soul hasn't come from God, it can make all the impersonations out here, but it cannot be real. You can act healing; you can act like you have. You can act like you receive it. Christians can act like they're Christians, and act and be ever so good at it, but that don't mean they're saved. That's exactly right. See? The Spirit can be there, the real genuine Spirit. The Holy Spirit can anoint you; that still don't mean you're saved. It's that inside soul that never dies; it's got Eternal Life. It always was Eternal Life. See? It come from God; it goes to God; it's the soul.
WORKS_IS_FAITH_EXPRESSED  SHREVEPORT_LA 11-26-65

56 David said, "I will go fight him." And there the pastor, big seven foot Saul, cowed down in his tent, my. But David said, "Let me go." Well, they took him up before Saul. Saul said, "Now, my son, I admire your courage. But I will tell you, that man is a warrior from his youth, and you're nothing but a youth. That man knows how to use a sword. Why, his spear is twenty foot long maybe. Why, he'd just pick you up and... like that." He said, "My Lord," he said, "your servant... God let him take a--kill a bear with his sling shot, and I took a kid out of a lion's mouth. How much more would He deliver that uncircumcised Philistine into my hands." He knowed what he was talking about; he had God behind him. He knowed the anointing oil was poured on him. Samuel had done done it. He knowed he was anointed. So nothing wasn't going to bother him.
57 What's the matter with you anointed people? God's done poured the Holy Ghost oil on you. You're anointed. You've got the privilege. Quickly, and look. "Why," he said, "you can't fight him." Said, "Well, if you're going to, put on my armor." Huh. And the first thing you know, they got this great big jacket of mail, you know, and put on little David. And I can imagine seeing that little bitty fellow standing there with this great big jacket on, standing like... He couldn't hold it up. Huh. He come to find out that that ecclesiastical jacket didn't fit a man of God. It doesn't yet. When you have to go away and get four years of embalming fluid pumped into you, when God says go, get going. That's right. God says you can do it, you can do it. "Whosoever will, let him come." That great big ecclesiastical jacket on, you know, theological seminary experience, didn't fit David. David said, "I haven't proved that thing yet. I don't know nothing about it, but I do know what this is." Brother, I don't know about all about your teaching, and all your doctrines, and all your Doxologies, and so forth, but I do know what the Holy Ghost is. The very thing that saved me back there will heal me. Hallelujah.
58 God promised it and I believe it. Brethren, he reached down there and got a hold of five little rocks as he crossed. And that old fellow just laughed at him, said, "I'll feed you to the birds." He said, "You meet me as a Philistine, in the name of a Philistine, with an armor and a spear. But I meet you in the Name of the Lord God of Israel." He knowed where he was standing. He reached down and picked up five little stones, put one in the sling shot. Why, old Goliath was covered all over with steel, all up-and-down like that, just one little spot. And here he comes across to meet him. A little bitty fellow about like this, and Goliath about like that standing there with his spear ready to pick him up and hang him up on a tree somewhere... Here come little David just a bouncing in the Spirit, "Ha, ha, ha." Oh, what a holy-roller. Victory already... Hallelujah.
PREPARATION_  OWENSBORO_KY 11-11-53

2 And David was a little shepherd lad; he lived in Bethlehem with his father, which was from the tribe of Ephraim. And a noble little fellow, the eighth child of this father, Jesse, which was a Ephraimite. And David, from the very beginning of his days borned here on this earth, he knew that God was with him. Before he was ever blessed or anointed, he knew God was with him. If you'll watch the story real close, how that God... Last night we were speaking on the same thing, that gifts and callings are without repentance. It's God's election and foreknowledge is what makes the thing so. If we have a desire, the Bible said, "It's not him that willeth, or him that runneth, but it's God that showeth mercy." See? It's not whether you will, or whether you want to, or where your desires is, it's whether it is God's will or not. Then we have to find out God's will, and if it's that perfect, we can just set our faith to that and say, "This is it." And we can run right on the way the will of God runs. Now, we know it's God's will to save the lost. We know it's God's will to heal the sick. Now, if we can positionally place ourself in His will, it's over.
4 And now, David, positionally he was born by election, which God said, "Gifts and callings are without repentance." And he was born, elected a servant of the Lord. And when he was a--a little boy, Israel had, during that day, had got away from God.
22 Sure he makes his boast. He's still making his boast. We still got Goliaths. And we still got Davids too. Thanks be to God for that. He made his big boast, and it fell on the ears of the wrong fellow, a little old fellow walking around there, he had to look up to see he's a man, like that. But he knew that he was elected by God and had the anointing upon him. He'd put God to a test and he knowed Who God was. He knowed where he was standing. Notice, David was called by election. He was elected, called, anointed, and placed (See?): elected by God, called from sheep herding to be the king, anointed, and positionally placed.
23 Look. Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph; Abraham: election, Isaac: justification, and Jacob: grace, and Joseph: perfection, nothing against Joseph. All right, there you are, called. Are you a David? Called, elected first by God... How many Christians here, raise up your hand. You're not a Christian by your desire; you're a Christian by God's desire. Amen. "No man can come to Me except My Father draws him first." You was elected by God before the foundation of the world to be a Christian. That's Scripture. Jesus said, "No man can come except My Father calls him." First thing you was elected, called. Then when God elected you, then He called you, and you heeded to His call. Then He poured the anointing oil on you, the Holy Ghost. When the cruse of oil... What does the oil represent in the Bible? Holy Spirit. When he poured the oil upon him, he baptized him with the Holy Spirit in a symbol form. Amen. I hope you get that. That just come fresh. He poured the oil upon him, just went all over him, a whole horn full of it (Amen.), not sparingly. And that's the way God pours the Holy Ghost on a man, not sparingly, just baptizes him into it, anointing him with the Spirit. Notice, he right then, when that anointing struck him, he was positionally placed as king. Amen. You are placed positionally in Christ Jesus as kings and priests. Is that right?
24 The moment you receive the Holy Spirit, God places you in the Kingdom, an heir. What a beautiful picture. There you are. Abraham: election, Isaac: justification, he that's come will be justified by faith. Jacob: grace, nothing you have done, but by God's mercy. And Joseph: perfection, placed. Amen. David, elected, called, anointed, and placed: you elected, called, anointed, and placed in the body of Jesus Christ. For by one Spirit we're all placed into the body of Christ positionally. Have you ever tried it out yet? Every man or woman in here that's a Christian knows that something's been on you all your life. When you was a child, you longed to serve God. Something beat at your heart; it was God's election.
25 David, before anything ever happened, before he'd ever had the anointing oil on him in anything, he knew God was with him. He killed a bear; he killed a lion with that slingshot. And he knowed that was super to an ordinary man to do that. He knew what he could do. He knew God was with him, because his whole heart beat after God. He said in the 47th Psalm, I believe or somewhere there, "As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so my soul thirsts after thee, O God." No wonder he could play the evil spirits away with his music; he had something to play about. And it come from his heart. And the devil knew that was from his heart. And he knew that David was elected of God. And there he was elected, called, anointed, and positionally already king. Amen. Let me drop this on the side. Don't think I'm excited; I'm not. Look, let me drop this on the side. They who had spent... How many here is justified by faith, believing on the Lord Jesus Christ? Everyone of you put your hands up is justified by faith. Is that right? The Scripture said, "Those who he has called, he has justified; and those who he has justified, he hath glorified." Amen.
26 In the Presence of Almighty God your name's indelibly wrote with the Blood of Jesus Christ, glorified in His Presence, positionally placed here on earth for a purpose, to do the will of God. You see your position, Christian? Oh, my. Them fellows up there couldn't understand it, but David had the anointing oil on him. He knowed where he was standing. Old Goliath stood out there. And he said, "Now, look, let's reason. Why, there's no need of God's armies being defeated. Well, look at that fellow standing out there with his big boast.”
“Well, we know God did it, but the days of miracles is past." Not for David, he was anointed. He knowed where he was at positionally. You say, "Brother Branham, can I accept Christ as my Healer now?" Certainly. "Well, if I'm not well in five minutes, what about it?" You're healed anyhow. If you believe it, you wouldn't ask me that question if you believed it. There's no question in your mind when you really believe it. You don't question it; you believe it. Other people might question it, but you don't question it. If you said to me, "Brother Branham, give me an oak tree." You're from down in southern Indiana where they have the big white oak and so forth. "Give me an oak tree." And I'll give you an acorn. Well, you've got a oak tree, potentially. It's in the seed form; but it's an oak tree; you've got it in a acorn. When we take God's Word, we got in a seed form. When we can accept Divine healing by God's Word, that settles it. Amen. It'll grow.

18 They were gods because it--they had completely surrendered themselves to the Spirit of God, that they were working for the glory of God. And when a man is so anointed with the Spirit... Now, let this go real deep under the fifth rib on the left side. When a man is anointed of the Spirit of God, his habits, his actions, and everything is God moving in him. Sometimes he's misjudged. Look at David, in the 23rd Psalm he cried, "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" as if he was, if David was the man. "All they that pass me by shoot their lip out at me." He was so anointed with God, he was so perfectly surrendered to God, and the anointing was on him in such a way and when he cried by the Spirit of God, if somebody'd been standing there and say, "Why, look, he thinks somebody is shooting their lip out at him. Why has God forsaken him?" It wasn't David; it was the Spirit crying out through David.

35 She wasn't a modern hybrid, so-called believer of the crop today. She had a hold of something. Not, "Well, I'm Methodist, and I don't have to take that.” “Bless God, I belong to the Assemblies. I belong to the Church of God. I don't have to take that." No, no. That's a hybrid type. You're bred into some organization. But a real true, thoroughbred Christians is born of the Word of God and holds on, no matter what takes place. Anything that seems to be dumb to me is a mule. A mule don't know where he come from. He's not mule, nor he's not horse. He's a mix between a mule and a horse. He's not gentle; he's mean. He's lowdown. He will wait all of his life to get to kick you just before he dies. You can call him, he will just stick them big ears up, "Haw, haw." See? He doesn't know. That's right. He's hybrid. That's what's the matter with the church today: too many hybrid so-called Christians. That's right. They stick their ears up, say, "Haw, the days of miracles is past. Haw, haw." You don't know whether you're a Christian or a sinner. You don't know whether you're a believer or an unbeliever. Hybrid. Anything's hybrid is off the real main beaten road.

48 No matter, he will wait all of his life to get to kick you 'fore he dies. You know that. I've handled horses, worked on a ranch. I know what I'm talking about. The thing's just an old ignoramus. But let... You don't know where he come from. He don't know who his pappy is, who his mammy is, or nothing else. That's the way with some of these hybrid religions today. They don't know who their papa is. Say, "Are you a Christian?” “I'm Methodist.” “I'm Baptist.” “I'm Presbyterian. I'm..." Oh, you don't even know where you come from. But oh, how I love a good thoroughbred horse. Brother, he can tell you... They can look on his pedigree, and you can see who his papa was, his grandpapa, and his grandmama, all the way back because he's a thoroughbred. I like to see a real thoroughbred Christian that's born of the Word of God. He knows where he come from; he knows who his father is; he knows who his mother is. It's not some social denomination. It's the power of God, the Son of God. He died to himself, and he's born again a new birth. He's a new creature in Christ Jesus. He's gentle. You can tell him something; he will punctuate every Word of God with an "Amen."

105 He's expressing Himself. That's His purpose. That's why He died. That's the second fold of His threefold manifestation. First, to express Himself in Christ and then He expressed Hisself through the Church, and the same thing, Christ was the Word. And the church becomes the Word when it lets the Word go through them. But when they accept the hybrid denomination, how can the Word go through it? It's grounded; then it causes a short and blows a fuse. See? But when the current is flowing freely, the Word of God, It expresses Itself. "The works that I do shall you do also." And in the last days it shall come to pass, "Behold I send to you Elijah, the prophet, and he shall turn the hearts of the children back to the faith of the fathers." And in there, there'd be a time come forth when He could express Himself in Fullness of His Godhead (Deity) through His Church, have the preeminences in this Church. Oh, my. What? The anointed Man, now the anointed people (oh, my) to bring back the anointed Bride and the Bridegroom. Anointed by why? Accepting what Eve turned down (and Adam), coming back with the anointing of the Word, because He said, "My Word is Spirit." See? Anointed with the Word.
106 What Eve turned down, He comes back and we accept. See how that hybrid condition again... Just exactly what he done to Eve. He told Eve, "Don't you do this, and don't you do that, and you can't do this and that." And Satan said, "Oh, oh, you know..." But she turned around and listened to him. But the Eve in the last day's not going to do it, because She's predestinated not to do it. Yes, sir. God's going to do it. He knows... He'll have... He said His spot--Church will be there without spot or a wrinkle. She's going to stand there in the splendor of Him: His Word made manifest. She'll be a token to the world. She'll be an... She'll be something to the world that the world can look and say, "Well,..." The rest of the world say, "Ah, she's a holy-roller. She's the second cousin. She don't belong to our group." I know. That's a good thing. She belongs to this group up here.
